Resolve to Drive Aloha
Show a little more aloha as you drive into the new year. Here are a few driving tips to keep you and your loved ones safe while on the road:
1. Go over traffic safety with your family
It’s important to sit down with your family to discuss a traffic safety plan. Take the time and attention required to talk with your younger drivers about the dangers of drunk and distracted driving, speeding, and driving late at night before they get behind the wheel.
If your kids are not old enough to drive, talk to them about safely walking or bicycling the streets and show them how to interact with others on the road. Teaching children about traffic safety should start while they are young to instill good traffic safety habits when they do reach driving age.
2. Stay up to date with vehicle maintenance
The start of the new year is an opportune time to have your vehicle properly maintained. Make sure your vehicle has had a recent oil change, tune-up, and the tires are rotated and properly inflated. If your vehicle has not been serviced regularly, arrange a maintenance checkup to look for problems that may not be visible.
3. Practice Patience
Patience and courtesy are traits of a safe and responsible driver. Mindful techniques such as taking deep breaths can help combat road rage. Remember to Drive Aloha and remain considerate while on the road.
