Brain Concussion Goggles
The concussion goggle helps participants understand the potentially debilitating effects of a concussion. Students will experience a concussion’s effects on balance and coordination as they try to walk in a straight line. They also will see how brain injury can impact memory and concentration.
Sleep Deprivation Experience
Drowsy drivers are just as dangerous as alcohol-impaired drivers, causing thousands of crashes on our highways. What does fatigue feel like when driving due to lack of sleep? Experience it with this teaching tool on sleep impairment.
Alcohol and Cannabis Impairment
Driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal substances, or prescription drugs put the lives of the driver and others in danger. Try on the goggles and learn how the substances affect you.
Commercial Vehicle Blind Zone
What are the dangers of driving too close to a commercial vehicle? See the blind zones in front, on the sides, and in the back of a big rig. Learn where the safe zones are when driving on the highway with commercial vehicles.
Private Vehicle Blind Spots
Participants will see the blind zone for a private vehicle and can learn the blind zone for their vehicle model. On average, most vehicles have a blind zone behind them that measures approximately 7-8 feet wide and 20-30 feet long.

Learn the proper way to hitch a trailer to a truck and also how to load boxes properly by weight distribution in a trailer. View the trailer simulator and see what happens to a vehicle when the trailer is not loaded properly. Obtain free resources and tips on how to drive a trailer safely.
Lex Brodie’s Tire, Brake & Service Company
Learn how to perform tire maintenance by checking the tire pressure with a tire pressure gauge, and tread depth using the Penny Test, and determining the condition of the tires. The student will understand how to care for tires, and determine if they need new tires and buy the correct tires.

Get preventive education and information on railroad safety and injury prevention dedicated to ending tragic collisions, fatalities, and injuries at highway-rail grade crossings and railroad property.

AAA Hawaii Driver Training
A single moment when attention is diverted from the task of driving can lead to an easily avoided incident. Voice-driven, in-vehicle technologies have become increasingly common with people’s desire to stay connected by texting, or even using Facebook. Get valuable information on the dangers of distracted driving, including texting while driving. Information on Advanced Vehicle Technologies will be available as well to help you keep focused on the driving task.
TyREDD – Sleep Deprivation
What are the risks of teens and sleep deprivation? What can you do to prevent drowsy driving? Learn how sleep affects performance and the dangers of drowsy driving.
MADD Hawaii
What can you do to protect yourself and your friends from the tragic consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs? Learn some simple strategies on How to Get Home Safe. Together with your friends Take the Pledge; decide together not to drink or use marijuana underage. And for parents and other adults? Visit our table for some tips on how to talk about underage drinking and drugging with youth today.
Keiki Injury Prevention Coalition
Partners from the Keiki Injury Prevention Coalition (Kapiolani Medical Center, The Queens Medical Center, and the Department of Health Neurotrauma Services) will be on hand to provide free educational materials on proper safety precautions for young children, distracted driving prevention, and avoiding traumatic brain injuries. There will also be Stop The Bleed training.
