Operation Driver Excellence
Sponsored by DTRIC Insurance and Par Hawaii, the Hawaii State Department of Education’s Operation Driver Excellence & Traffic Safety Fair is a unique event aimed at preparing Hawaii’s teens to become safe and responsible drivers. Teen drivers and their parent driving partners will test their skills and knowledge with real-world, hands-on-the-wheel driving challenges. Two courses will simulate real-world experiences in a safe and controlled environment. In addition, the Traffic Safety Fair will feature interactive learning stations that will illustrate how impairment can severely impact a driver’s abilities, judgment, and reaction times and highlight other important traffic safety lessons. This year’s event is dedicated to Sara Yara, who lost her life to a driver who hit her while she was in a crosswalk on her way to school.
